About Us

I started Goodcanning.com after my wife and I bought our first house, and grew our first garden. I knew I wanted to can our wonderful vegetables, but I didn't know how. After searching on the Internet for some time, I discovered there were not many good canning recipes out there. Eventually, I found some good sites. You can discover them on the links page.

After buying some wonderful canning books and trying recipes on the web, I was still discontent. I could not find how to make the wonderful dishes I remembered my grandma and great-grandma making. So, I began asking friends and family for recipes I also did some research and found some wonderful canning books from the early 1900's that had fallen into public domain. The recipes on this site are from my friends and family and from these books. I hope you enjoy these recipes!

Keep in mind that these recipes are old. They have been passed down from generation to generation. They may not comply with current USDA canning recommendations. While I have made every attempt to adjust the process times for safe canning, please read the safety information and decide for yourself what needs to be done. I personally always add a little time just to be sure.

Have fun canning with these heirloom recipes and enjoy eating the fruits of your labor!
